Some materials may be accepted only if they meet specific preparation requirements. Please make sure these items are empty, drained, opened, crushed, cut or otherwise prepared before visiting your local AIM facility.
Aerosol Cans
Must be empty, punctured, and/or crushed.
Drums, Totes, Pails
Must be empty and open or crushed with no solids, residual liquids or vapours.

Accepted only if there are holes large enough to physically inspect and verify tank contains no sludge or residual; no combustible vapour present.

Refrigerants must be removed.

Scrap Containing Refrigerants
CFC certification required. Select facilities that recover refrigerants may accept (may be subject to fee). All automobiles and appliances which may contain refrigerants must have the refrigerant recovery per regulations 40 CFR Part 82 Section 82.155(a) prior to entering the facility. Releases and venting of refrigerants are violations of the Clean Air Act. Call your local yard for more information.

Must be cut in half with the valves removed and completely empty of all liquid vapours.

End Of Life Vehicles
Must be depolluted by supplier (all liquids such as oils, gasoline, fluids, freon, etc). It is strictly forbidden to leave the tires and the spare tire on/in the vehicle during pressing. For everyone's safety, fuel tanks must be emptied and perforated or removed, as well as batteries and mercury switches must be removed at all times. It is also very important to ensure that the vehicles do not contain any concealed unauthorized waste.
Oil Filters
Must be drained and dry, preferably crushed.
Wet Transformers
Must be completely drained & have analytical report on the oil removed showing PCB concentrations were less than 2ppm (2 mg/kg). Prior Approval Required.
Automobiles
Except when purchased for vehicle depollution, must have the following items removed prior to delivery: engine oil, hydraulic oil, differential fluid (if present), fuel, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid, batteries, oil filters, power steering fluid, brake fluid, lead, battery connectors, wheel weights, mercury switches and CFC's. All automobiles and appliances which may contain refrigerants must have the refrigerant recovery per regulations 40 CFR Part 82 Section 82.155(a) prior to entering the facility. Cannot be cracked, leaking, broken or burned.
